قالت وكالة إغاثة وتشغيل لاجئي فلسطين (الأونروا) إنه حتى اليوم الأربعاء، نزح حوالي 600,000 شخص، أي ما يعادل ربع سكان غزة، من رفح منذ السادس من أيار/مايو بينما تستمر العملية البرية الإسرائيلية.
نائب المتحدث باسم الأمم المتحدة فرحان حق قال أثناء المؤتمر الصحفي اليومي إن التقارير تفيد باستمرار التوغلات البرية والقتال العنيف في دير البلح وسط غزة، وكذلك في جباليا شمال القطاع.
ونقلا عن مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية أضاف حق أن العديد من العائلات تنزح الآن مرة أخرى، بعد أن نزحت بالفعل بشكل متكرر منذ تشرين الأول/أكتوبر.
وقال المتحدث الأممي إنه بغض النظر عما إذا كانوا سينتقلون أو يبقون، يجب حماية المدنيين في غزة، ويتعين على جميع الأطراف احترام القانون الدولي الإنساني في جميع الأوقات، مضيفا أن هذا يعني أيضا أنه يجب تلبية احتياجات المدنيين الأساسية، بما في ذلك الغذاء والمأوى والمياه والصحة أينما كانوا.
