No balanço do primeiro turno das eleições municipais, a presidente do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral (TSE), ministra Cármen Lúcia, destacou a eficiência da Justiça Eleitoral e disse considerar preocupante a informação de que a Polícia Federal apreendeu mais de R$ 21 milhões que seriam usados para a compra de votos. Ela comentou também sobre o alto índice de abstenção, o desempenho das mulheres e comparou a democracia a um canteiro de rosas.
